William Buntin is a retired American professional basketball player who played as a power forward. He was born on December 4, 1943, in Birmingham, Alabama.
Buntin is best known for his college basketball career at the University of Michigan, where he played from 1960 to 1965. He was a two-time All-American and helped lead the Wolverines to two Big Ten Conference championships.
After college, Buntin was selected by the New York Knicks in the 1965 NBA Draft and played four seasons in the NBA, all with the Knicks. He averaged 9.8 points and 6.3 rebounds per game over his career.
Buntin retired from professional basketball in 1969 and went on to work as an executive in the insurance industry. He passed away on May 28, 1968, at the age of 26, due to complications from a heart condition.
